The company history of Dr. Schulze GmbH starts in 1981, when Dr. Reiner Schulze, who later became the founder of the company, published scientific and practical investigations on the topic of “The cutting of hard minerals”. He founded the company Dr. Schulze in 1984 in Wilnsdorf, North Rhine Westphalia, as a result of his experience, profound specialist knowledge, and with the vision of a one-stop shop for full customer-oriented service in the area of diamond technology. Since 1986 Dr. Schulze has been operating as a public liability company.
Thanks to its flexibility, expertise, and the permanent adaptation of products to customer needs, the company rapidly grew from small old manufacturing premises with only a few employees into a modern manufacturing workshop offering a complete range of diamond tools for the construction industry and for the working of natural stone.
In order to keep up with the rapidly growing sales and with customer desires for a complete range, a new production building was erected in Lüneburg in 1989, where an almost fully automated high volume manufacture for segments and production lines for laser-welded tools were commissioned. In addition, our customers in the north of Germany were provided with a local service depot for tools and machines.
The takeover in Gommern (near Magdeburg in the former GDR) of a manufacturing plant for special tools used in mining strengthened our position in the Eastern part of Germany, and ensured a further expansion of the range. The company achieved a very high degree of manufacturing flexibility through the installation of a complete production line for steel cores in Gommern. This gave us the possibility to rapidly manufacture tools to special dimensions according to individual customer needs.
By 1994, the comprehensive diamond tool range was extended by the first machines of our own manufacture, so that we could guarantee our customers a complete range of high quality products. This range of machines was successively expanded and further developed. Our expertise and experience in the area of tool design help us to develop and build user-friendly, safe, and reliable tools.
Acquisition of Meissner Company
The company history took another step forwards in 2002, when Dr. Schulze GmbH took over the Meissner Maschinenbau GmbH company in Engelskirchen, which has been well known since 1979 as an expert manufacturer of high quality machines for particularly demanding cutting and drilling requirements. Thanks to a broad product range of Meissner machines, as well as the unique Kombi system which functions to building block principles and offers a solution for cutting and drilling tasks almost regardless of the difficulty, our company can help its customers even with individual particular problems.
For the continually growing production and for the manufacture of the Meissner machines, the headquarters at Wilnsdorf were extended by a new manufacturing hall with generous production facilities, office areas, and a display area for the complete product range.

Simultaneously with the strengthening of our position in Germany and the extension of the manufacturing capacity, there has been a permanent increase in our overseas activities. The proportion of exports has therefore grown rapidly, and is now at almost 70%, which proves the worldwide acceptance of our products. With more than 30 agencies throughout the world, our company is in the position to offer our overseas customers almost everywhere a sales and service presence in their locality.
A milestone in the development of the company was the decision to form a joint venture in China, and the establishment of our own production facility in Yichang in the middle of China. The introduction of modern methods of production, permanent production monitoring by German and Chinese management, and a complete quality assurance system enable the company to supply its customers in the Asian region with high quality products.

As well as the manufacture of diamond tools and machines, Dr. Schulze GmbH is committed to safety for the whole industry. Thus Dr. Schulze GmbH was one of the initiators and founding members of oSa (Organization for the Safety of Abrasives) – a worldwide organisation for the safety of abrasive equipment.
Furthermore, the company is a member of FEPA (Federation of European Producers of Abrasives), VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau e.V. – German Association of Machinery and Industrial Equipment Manufacturers), VDS (Verband der Deutschen Schleifmittelwerke e.V. - German Abrasives Association), FBS (Fachverband Betonbohren und –Sägen Deutschland e.V. - German national association of contractors), IACDS (International Association of Concrete Drillers & Sawers) and an active participant in many workgroups which are concerned with questions of safety.
This commitment allows us at all times to remain completely up to date in terms of standards, quality assurance, and innovations, so that we can offer our customers products which are not only of top quality, but which are above all safe.
Thanks to its expertise, closeness to its customer base, and flexibility, Dr. Schulze GmbH celebrateted in 2009 its 25th anniversary as one of the leading German manufacturers of diamond tools and machines for construction and the working of natural stone. We have a staff of more than 60, and 4 production plants in Germany (two in Wilnsdorf, one each in Lüneburg and Gommern), a worldwide network of agents and are a renowned skilled partner for all questions related to diamond cutting technology.
